My son told me all about “Google Easter Eggs” hidden in Google search terms. They are so fun to play around with and would make a really enjoyable and engaging lesson to get older students talking and engaged in speech therapy. If you are looking to build rapport with hard-to-reach older students, this might be the exact thing you need! NOTE: A lot of these feature only show up in the Google Chrome browser and not on Safari or other web browsers.
- Google “askew” and Google will slightly tilt. Students will find it funny — and you can ask them to describe what happened to the screen? What can be done to fix it?
- Google “fun facts” and Google will display a fun fact it finds on the internet.
- Similar to number two, Google “I’m feeling curious” and Google will display interesting facts it finds online.
- Google “barrel roll” and Google will turn in a circle on your screen. Here’s another opportunity to discuss what happened and could it happen again!
- Search for “what sound does a dog make” and you will get a list of sounds of different animals that you can play right on Google.
- Go to “Google Moon” and Google will give you the coordinates where astronauts landed plotted on an actual picture of the moon.
- Go to “Google Mars“ and see some imagery from the Mars surface.
- Go to “Google Sky“ and see constellations and celestial bodies.
- Go to “Google Gravity” and watch the Google page fall down!
- Go to “Epic Google” and watch the Google page get bigger and bigger!
