Instagram is a perfect playground for narcissists. I’ve come to that conclusion after going down the rabbit hole of research into the narcissistic personality disorder 🌀🤯😱 But it’s actually vitally important for you to learn about what a narcissist is and also what an empath is too, especially those of us in helping professions (speech, OT, teaching, nursing, etc). I believe we don’t actually have a lot of narcissists in the trenches of this profession. I bet we have a lot more empaths —and that is who typically gets caught up in the manipulation and lies of the narcissist. Narcissists might be underrepresented in the healing professions, but they are overrepresented in politics, entertainment industry, and many leadership roles —and they are all over IG. No matter who you are you most likely have interacted with a narcissist. To protect yourself, you need to know how to spot a narcissist.
